It all started in 2003, with a vision to provide comprehen-sive, all-under-one-roof diagnostic services on a 24/7 basis. I founded Islamabad Diagnostic Centre (IDC) with the invaluable support of my brothers, Dr. Rehan Uppal and Dr. Imran Uppal.
IDC’s journey began with its first branch in Wah Cantt, named in memory of our late father, Dr. Aslam Uppal. Shortly after, we expanded to a second branch at F-8 Markaz, Islamabad. Today, Alhamdulillah, IDC has grown into a network of over 170 centers across 65+ cities in Pakistan, fulfilling our mission to become the country’s most trusted and reliable healthcare network. IDC’s remarkable growth and reputation stem from our commitment to quality and a dedicated team of doctors, technologists, and specialists. We maintain global standards across our diagnostic services, including ISO 15189-accredited pathology, which is expertly managed by a team of qualified pathologists and technologists overseeing operations across multiple cities. The IDC network is recognized by various provincial and federal bodies like IHRA, PHC, SHC, KHC, etc. Our state-of-the-art total lab automation systems ensure consistent, high-quality testing with fast results. As a leader in diagnostic radiology, IDC is honored to be the only private diagnostic center in Pakistan recognized for FCPS training in radiology. IDC’s radiology is recognized by the Pakistan’s Nuclear Authority (PNRA). It is an academically driven entity and is a collaborating partner with Isra University and Riphah University for healthcare education.
We boast the largest team of radiologists nationwide and offer cutting-edge imaging services through advanced modalities like MRI, CT Scans, Digital X-Rays, Mammography, CBCT, OPG, Ultrasonography, Color Doppler, Echo-cardiography, and DEXA. These facilities are integrated via teleradiology and PACS systems, ensuring quick and connected images for reliable reporting across all IDC branches.
Our diagnostic network stands out with the highest number of MRI and CT scanners in Pakistan. With over 4,000 dedicated professionals, including experienced consultants and doctors, we perform more than 12 million tests annually. Preventive healthcare remains at the heart of IDC, and our health screening packages are designed for all ages. We also introduced mobile services for the first time in Pakistan, “IDC on Wheels,” offering X-rays, Ultrasounds, EEGs, ECGs, ECHOs, Holter Monitoring and Home Sleep Study right at patients’ doorsteps.

Senior citizen discounts (for those above 65), clinical training, and postgraduate education, as well as assisting the government through public-private partnerships, are part of our mission. IDC helps establish diagnostic labs in hospitals and polyclinics. Through our global equity partners, the Evercare Group, which is part of the TPG Group backed by the Rise Fund, we facilitated direct foreign investment in Pakistan. Evercare Hospital Lahore is one such example. Additionally, IDC has partnered with Doctor Lab UK and Syn Lab Germany for rare, and otherwise inaccessible tests in Pakistan.
I am honored that the government acknowledged my services and those of IDC by bestowing me with the Presidential Award in 2022 and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2023. IDC
also received the Front Line Warriors Award for its COVID pandemic services. I attribute all of this to my extraordinary team of professionals and doctors.
